Citizenship

Caring for our communities

As a global company with a portfolio of 25+ brands, we have many opportunities for meaningful engagement in citizenship causes that matter to our employees, customers and partners. Wherever we work and where our products are sold, we dedicate resources to address issues around health, the environment and education.

Nancy Mahon

“To solve the world’s toughest problems, we need corporations to bring their business skills and monetary resources to the table," says Nancy Mahon, Senior Vice President, Global Corporate Citizenship and Sustainability. "As a family-founded company, giving back is built into our very DNA and we are proud to be one of those corporations leveraging our business thinking and resources as a global citizen to address the greatest needs of our local communities.”

Citizenship by the Numbers

The Estée Lauder Companies Breast Cancer Campaign is an award-winning corporate commitment to defeat breast cancer through education and medical research. This large-scale effort transcends geographies and brands, and is a prime example of our ability as the global leader in prestige beauty to have an impact on an important issue. To date, the Breast Cancer Campaign has raised more than $76 million.

Further, brand efforts like the M·A·C AIDS Fund, Aveda Earth Month and La Mer Blue Heart champion global causes by committing brand funds in support of nonprofit partners, raising awareness through marketing and social media channels, and engaging employees to take action in their own communities.

Amplifying Employee Action

In an effort to support our employees’ commitments to the many causes they care about and to amplify the impact of our Company’s collective citizenship efforts, we introduced the Good Works program in FY 2016.

Good Works is a digital platform where employees have the opportunity to sign up for volunteer activities and share their own stories. Through the Good Works platform employees can also register their philanthropic donations and volunteer hours to be matched by company funds to nonprofits of their choice.

The Good Works platform is currently available to full-time and part-time employees in the United States for volunteer activities, and the Company’s matching funds are available to full-time U.S. employees. Good Works will be rolling out to employees in additional countries in the near future.
